Classic cars and E-cars: The KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE and the Expo for sustainable mobility - "the electric avenue" - will take place in parallel from 3rd - 6th June 2010 in Friedrichshafen
Tradition meets the future – a trade fair goes mobile: Classic cars and E-mobiles of all types will be putting their ‘foot down’ together. The KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE and the Expo "the electric avenue" will once again have a joint appearance at Lake Constance from 3rd - 6th June 2010: driving, floating and flying rarities will be just as much at the centre of attention as vehicles with alternative propulsion systems: "The concept of the fair, which is strongly marked by emotions, and the range of historical and modern vehicles are unique in the international trade fair scene and meet the spirit of the times", Berthold Porath, Trade Fair Project Manager, is convinced. "In the automobile industry we are seeing an extremely strong response." At Lake Constance, where mobility on water, land and in the air has its roots, preparations for the mobile event are going ‘full steam ahead’.
"It evolved in numerous conversations at our stand during the IAA in Frankfurt that we offer an ideal platform for the two automobile trade fairs running in parallel for the industry and the sub-supplier trade", declared Berthold Porath. "On the one hand, tradition is evident in an emotional and dynamic environment. On the other hand, we are offering an insight into mobility of the future with the Electro-Expo". The location Lake Constance provides an authentic platform, which is referred to again and again as the "Silicon Valley" of mobility and high-tech companies, such as ZF, Tognum and EADS, who still produce today at Lake Constance.
KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE
"The KLASSIKWELT BODENSEE with its manifold range of classic cars and young-timers is not a static retro-show, but a dynamic event", declared Project Manager Berthold Porath. An air show with historical machines, old racing cars and ancient shuttle buses, as well as steamboats on Lake Constance, will be showing vintage cars in all dimensions. Over 300 exhibitors as well as 42,000 visitors were present at the second trade fair event of its kind at Lake Constance. The numerous special shows abduct visitors into a nostalgic era, for example, the "Salon de Luxe", with pre-war vehicles of the "Belle Epoque", classic sailing boats made of wood and old motorboats from the 30’s. The "motorised crowd pullers" ranging from the Allgaier Porsche Diesel and the Lanz-Bulldog supplement the overall picture. The classic car spare parts market offers a paradise for tinkers and mechanics.
Everything in Motion
Most of the exhibits on land, water and in the air are not only exhibited in the halls, but can also be seen in action on various obstacle courses, on the water or in the air. Historical racing cars and motorcycles can be seen taking a spin around the DEKRA circuit at the open-air grounds behind the trade fair halls.
The air show with the legendary "Flying Bulls" will take place daily from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. at the adjacent airport location. The well-known passenger machines Super Constellation from Switzerland and the DC6 will provide further aviation highlights. The JU 52 and a Sikorsky helicopter will also be in action and will be offering sightseeing flights.
Classic Car Parade
The classic car parade at the lake, which will be held again on Saturday evening from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m., will also be enormously popular within the classic car scene, Almost 30,000 visitors lined the route last year. The word has got around that the drive through the town and along the shores of Lake Constance is a very special experience and even gives hard boiled racing drivers the "goose bumps".
Rock’n Roll Party
New this year is that Southern Germany’s hottest rock’n roll party "Let the good times roll" with the bands THE CASH and the MONROES will begin on Saturday evening following the classic car parade in Hall 2, and not as in the last two years at the beginning of the fair on Thursday. This was also the request of the racing driver fraternity, who want to celebrate after the parade. A true highlight of the trade fair will be provided by the DEUVET Academy in the new Conference Centre East. DEUVET is one of the largest classic car associations in Germany and several invited speakers promise to provide interesting presentations on the subject of classic cars.
Electro-Event in the Rothaus Hall A1
In 2010, the exhibition "the electric avenue" will take place in the Rothaus Hall. Baden-Wuerttemberg’s largest energy supplier, EnBW, will be inviting to a test drive on the trade fair circuit in the EnBW E-car test centre, which was already an out-of-the-ordinary event at the last trade fair. In addition, there is a large test course for E-bikes and E-scooters. In the Conference Centre West, a symposium will also be taking place on the subject of "sustainable mobility".
Historical E-Cars
It is planned to present the link between the KLASSIKWELT LAKE BODENSEE and the Electro-Event in the Foyer West. A special show with historical electro-vehicles should make a fascinating subject. The first electro-automobile was already driven in the year 1896. The development of this type of car was already relatively well-advanced at the beginning of the 20th century, but this was slowed down by the two world wars.
